A Getaway for All Seasons
No matter what's the season, or for what reason, Connecticut Villa 8634 offers great living and entertainment experiences all year round: Oceanfront living at its best in summer; cozy rooms with three open fireplaces in winter.
Explore in March and April the nearby islands to watch seals. Witness in May the spectacle of fierce-looking, "pre-historic" horseshoe crabs visiting the beach. Enjoy the Long Island Sound into September, when surprisingly the ocean is at its warmest and kayaking at its best. Or fish from June to October when blue fish action is most exciting.
Invite friends and acquaintances in the fall, when the bounty of harvests at the local orchards blend with the softly glowing trees of the foliage season - a great time to visit country fairs and get a feel for the rural life of New England's yesteryear.
And what a way to enjoy winter. Watch the sun - ever so slowly - rising from the sea, and experience the power of the ocean - first hand - crashing storm waves on the seawall.
And if you'd rather go out, enjoy gambling and entertainment at the casinos or take short day trips on the scenic roads for winter sports at the nearby Powder Ridge and Mt. Southington ski areas.
Guilford is centrally located, just across from the eastern end of Long Island, on the Sound’s Connecticut shore. This historical town with its many shops and restaurants rivals the Hamptons. It’s just as close to New York and only a short drive away from New Haven (Yale, Amistad Freedom Schooner, New London (USS Nautilus, submarine base), Essex (steam train, river boat, Gilette Castle), Mystic (America's largest Maritime Museum) the famed world-class Foxwood and Mohegan Sun casinos. It’s also a great gateway to further explore the many attractions of New England during all seasons. Two main roads going into town are classified scenic drives and offer plenty of opportunities for bike riding. A walking trails leaves from behind the villa and leads to many shoreline attractions including Chaffinch Island Park. Great location for adults and children: At the end-of-the-road - no traffic - and with calm beach waters devoid of undercurrents.
