One of the first of the spectacular vistas that confront visitors entering Queenstown along State Highway 6 is the hilltop view of Lake Hayes. Only 10 minutes from Queenstown, the locals consider Lake Hayes as the jewel of the district, offering the best in fishing, swimming and scenery. Lake Hayes central location to Queenstown, Arrowtown, the airport, golf courses, vineyards and ski fields make it the ideal base for a stay in central Otago. First discovered by Donald Haye in 1857, Lakes Hayes, which bears his name, has been immortalized by painters for decades.

The lodge has 3 luxury en suites and 1 premium suite, the Coronet Suite, which has it's own spa bath. All are just 50 meters from the lake and have elevated lake and mountain views. Location: The lodge offers quality ski lodge accommodation ideally located on the absolute lakefront of Lake Hayes. The lodge looks directly at Coronet Peak and is 20 minutes drive from the base of the main chair lift. Centrally located, other ski fields such as the Remarkables and Cardrona can also been seen and can be reached within 30 to 60 minutes respectively. For those who wish to heliski, the lodge makes a great base to observe the conditions of the day before moving on to the airport, which is only 5 minutes away.

The lodge is well set up for winter holidays with a large guest lounge/library which has a huge open fire which generates a great ambiance overlooking the lakes and night skiing on Coronet Peak. After skiing guests can soak in the outdoor spa pool which is set into the deck and overlooks the lake and ski fields.

Other winter facilities include: Central under floor heating throughout the house; woolen duvets, electric blankets, drying room, self serve laundry/dryer, ski and ski boot storage.

Horse riding: A great way to explore the magnificent Wakatipu basin is to take a guided trek on horseback.
