Devon Castle Apartment 6395 is located in a triangular tower with round turrets built in 1778.
It is situated in a secluded position above the Exe Valley 800 feet sea level on the wooded Haldon Hills between Exeter and Newton Abbot.
Private on the top floor, the apartment affords a unique experience and opportunity to stay in a skillfully restored building, furnished to suit the period, with Gothic windows, a floor of English Oak and feature plaster work.
The Building is a Grade II Listed Building and was restored in 1995 by the Devon Historic Buildings Trust aided by grants from English Heritage, Devon County Council, Teignbridge District Council and Exeter City Council.
Grant conditions dictate that the ground floor, first floor, and roof are open to the public - the first floor Ballroom and Tower room feature fine plaster work, gothic windows, mahogany floors and fireplace.
The building is open to the public each Sunday and Bank Holidays April to September between 2 pm and 5 pm and each day (except Saturdays) during the school summer holidays.
There may also be small private functions at other times and the building is Registered for Civil Weddings.
Guests have fairly restricted access at other times including the roof and grounds.
Accommodation includes bed-sitting room with kitchen in the north turret, bathroom with shower attachment in south west turret.
Additional features include breathtaking views across Devon countryside through large Gothic windows or from the roof terrace, access to the public rooms when closed to the public.
