Taking its
name from an iguana shaped rock formation off its western coast, Guana
Island is an 850-acre unspoiled paradise in the British Virgin Islands.
Once a Quaker sugar cane plantation, the island is now the exclusive province
of the Guana Island Club.
Guests stay
in rooms with private baths and terraces, in cottages along a ridge with
a panoramic view. The interiors are comfortably but not overwhelmingly
furnished in a style that comes out of the history of the island.
Guests have
the option to dine in private or gather at friendly social dining tables
for dinner. Guaranteed to take your breath away, White Bay Beach is a
mile-long stretch of pure white coral sand that most of the guests use
every day. And, since there are never more than 30 guests at a time, it
could never be considered as being crowded.
There are
also six other beaches on the island for your private use, some so secluded
that theyıre accessible only by boat. And
sure to please the nature-lover, Guana Island is a haven for many endangered
species, and is an officially designated wildlife sanctuary with more
flora and fauna than any other island its size. HB
