Undoubtedly
one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean chain, Barbados is
also the most easterly, opening the door to the West Indies. The spectacular
coastline is most certainly a main attraction featuring the tranquil rhythms
of the Caribbean and awe-inspiring strength of the Atlantic. This combined
with a diverse and unique terrain formed by a tectonic shifting of plates
(rather than volcanically such as the majority of other islands), creating
flat table lands, soft rolling hills and plunging cliffs. This too has
created some of the most incredible underground limestone caverns such
as Harrisonšs Cave, inviting both the amateur or avid spelunker.
Due to the
topography and climate, sugar cane has traditionally been the main industry,
formulating the island around a plantation system offering a plethora
of charming villas with impeccably kept gardens on a network of roads
throughout the fields. Barbadians are of diverse backgrounds, creating
a meld of peoples offering a rich cultural heritage that is both intriguing
and welcoming. Beautiful beaches, magnificent island terrain, jetport
convenience and incomparable character and charm make for a guaranteed
pleasurable island experience.
