Feel like shopping? Hop the ferry to Lahaina, where a plethora of small restaurants, bars, art galleries, and great shopping abound. From Lahaina you may take a shuttle, taxi or a charming trolley car to Whalers Village in Kaanapali, which is just 10 minutes away. Whalers Village is a large beach front shopping center with upscale boutiques. Even more fun would be to hop a convenient commuter flight from the small-town rural airport at the top of the island to Waikiki and Ala Moana in Honolulu. Each day there are numerous departures to and from Honolulu. The 30 minute flight can sometimes cost as little as $30 each way. Another option is to combine a ferry trip to Lahaina with a flight out of Kapalua's West Maui airport to Honolulu, then back to Lana`i in one enjoyable day. Traveling through either Lanai Airport or Kapalua West Maui airport is a breeze, with no lines or crowds. We greatly appreciate the minimal amount of time required to check in prior to departure.
