The castle is located just on the side of a typical Tuscan hill, on the crown of which clusters the medieval village of Castagneto Carducci. The views are amazing to the rear are more hills covered in olives, cypresses and pines. To the front and the length of the horizon is the sea, the continuation of the length of beaches that make Forte dei Marmi, the St. Tropez of Italy. These beaches, except for the very middle of August, are much less developed and less crowded.

A medieval castle consist of a foundation that dates back to the 9th Century, and a tower in the garden, which has been turned into a self contained guest room, built by the daughter of Ugolino della Gradescha, perhaps one of the most famous residents of DanteÕs Inferno.

The Main House offers a Dining Room that looks onto terrace and outside dining area. There are Murano chandeliers (all chandeliers and most of the glass is Murano designed by Aliai and made in Murano, and the table seats up to 20, as does the outside table, and the small cortile can seat 8 more. In the small cortile is a pizza oven on the wall.

The Outside Terrace offers additional Dining area overlooking Parapet and the sea beyond.

On the Ground Floor is a bedroom with twin beds and ensuite bathroom. Another bedroom with double bed and bathroom opens onto front lawn.

The First Floor offers a Bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom with air conditioning, a small bedroom with double bed and 1 sofa bed and ensuite bathroom with air conditioning. Bedroom with one twin bed & ensuite bathroom with air conditioning. These three rooms are located on one wing.

The Second Floor offers a Master Bedroom a large room, large double bed, 2 bathrooms with air conditioning, doors open onto a little terrace with a couple of armchairs, a small table and an awning for shade. Bedroom with double bed and bathroom. Dressing area.

The ChildrenÕs Bedroom has 3 single beds and one bathroom. The 6th bedroom is a small single room with single bed and shower (ideal for nanny).

On the Lower Ground by the dining-room, there is a possibility for an extra room with 3 beds each with a pull-out bed (6 beds) perfect for teens, unexpected guests etc) and bathroom. And the 9th Bedroom with double bed with bathroom.

UgolinoÕs Tower is self contained with a double bed on one level, a little mini-living room that is the width and breadth of the tower, a fridge, mini-bar, bathroom, shower and satellite TV, plus a skylight. Ideal for honeymoon couple.

There is a great pool house with several tables for outside eating, also a BBQ, cooking facilities and utensils etc. Staff will BBQ, prepare meals and clear up by pool lunch or dinner. ThereÕs a tiny sunken pool in the pool hut. On the grounds is also a Tennis Court

Other Facilities includes: a Small Chapel that can seat 30 people. Castle perfect for weddings, and the owner would be happy to arrange and help plan the event. Also possible to arrange yoga classes, massages etc if planned in advance.

Beach : a long beach (continuation of Forte dei Marmi) is about a 20m drive away. The castle has its own beach hut in a fenced-off clearing right on the beach. The staff are happy to come too and prepare and clear away picnic lunches and starlight suppers. There is also a little hut next door with two chaise-longue beds in the shade for resting. The beach is sandy and wide. Obviously in around the 15th August it is more crowded but the rest of the time it is pretty quiet.

Boats can be hired further down the beach (must be arranged in advance) for day trips etc.

The surrounding neighbourhood is incredibly beautiful and very chic very good restaurants. Castagneto Carducci is a beautiful medieval village. The castle is perfect for wine-tasting, visiting Etruscan ruins as well as the obvious Siena, Grosseto, and Florence trips.

The castle is 40 minutes south of Pisa, about 1 1/2 hours from Florence and 1 1/2 hours from Rome, 5 minutes from the sea and 10 minutes from the Pisa - Livorno - Rome highway.
