Villa 6858 is located about 2.5 hours from Bali's international airport and just 20 minutes to beautiful, secluded beaches, some of Bali's best dive spots near Tulamben and Amed, and to places of cultural and historical interest. This region of East Bali is also known for having some of the island's most dramatic landscape.

On a terraced hillside overlooking Tirta Gangga, the Australian designer Carole Muller has created a unique private retreat – simple in plan and taking full advantage of the views of the royal playgrounds below. Even if tourist groups stroll through the gardens below the villa you enjoy complete privacy from your elevated location.

The main building consists of just two bedrooms – furnished with one king-size (1.80m x 2m) and one queen-size (1.20m x 2m) four-poster bed and opening to the spacious verandah. Sliding doors separate the two bedrooms, but when open the whole house feels like one large space. When the glass sliding doors to the outside are opened, too, the interiors practically melt away, and the whole building becomes a covered extension of the outdoors. (The two open-air bathrooms and dressing areas are located in the back of the bedrooms.)

Sharing the view of the water gardens with the main house is the open dining pavilion raised two steps above the common terrace and surrounded on three sides by a lotus pond and adjacent to a private plunge pool filled with christal clear spring water.

The skillful combination of antique and modern furniture, numerous original paintings throughout the house and even in the bathrooms, comfortable sofa chairs with many cushions, a large choice of magazines and books about Bali (and about interior design, fashion, travel, etc), create a very relaxing environment which easily lets you forget any excursions you had originally planned.
